Hannah R. Winkler Memorial Scholarship
The idea for this scholarship came about as our family tried to think of a constructive way to mark her first birthday after passing, with joy and thanksgiving for her short life. It is hard to describe Hannah and her relationship with each of us. It sounds cliché to say she lit up a room when she walked into it, but she did. She was fun-loving, kind, affectionate, silly, and infectiously joyful.
We want to award this scholarship to someone who embodies some of the characteristics that we loved and still cherish about Hannah. That is why the essay questions are not all run of the mill. We want to get a glimpse into who the candidates are. We aspire to grow this scholarship each year through fundraising events and donations to the Hannah R. Winkler Memorial Fund.
What is the scholarship and who is eligible?
The scholarship is a one-time $1000 award to be put towards tuition and fees, typically divided and applied equally to the fall and winter semesters. Multiple scholarships may be awarded each year. Any scholarship applicant residing in St. Clair County and attending a Michigan university or college in the 2026-2027 academic year is eligible for consideration.
